One factor that I have typically puzzled about is how effective are these gadgets for the elimination of flying insects. In spite of everything the light attracts insects to kill them. So might it not produce a cloud of pests simply hanging round that have not yet been killed? Though the satisfaction from the electrocution may be compensation for this in some people's minds. I grew up in the Black Forest (not the well-known one). Out near the again deck we had a bug zapper hanging from the limb of a pine tree. Hundreds of the local moths would get there, perhaps 1000's. Every year the Miller Moths invade, entering into each crack they'll. Hiding along the route of their migration. And thus the first cause for the electric bug killer. Sooner or later I was fascinated to see a blue jay perching on the facet of the bug zapper. It was poking it beak into the interior space. I used to be sure that it was going to harm itself, but it did not, even when it pulled moths right off the electrified grid. Clever fowl. We not often had to clean the factor out due to it and its successors.
